kinetiq — Privacy Policy
Tinker Crab LLC
Effective date: May 3, 2026
Last updated: February 5, 2026
kinetiq (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is operated by Tinker Crab LLC. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information when you use the kinetiq mobile application.
1. Summary
kinetiq is a social fitness experience built around squads and weekly leaderboards. With your permission, the app reads authorized Apple Health activity summaries (for the current calendar week when you refresh) to compute and sync your Motion Score. Squad chat, message reactions, and related data are stored on our servers (Supabase) and are visible to members of the same squad.
2. Data We Collect (App Privacy)
kinetiq collects data as described below. This section is written to align with common App Store privacy disclosure categories. If you do not create an account, provide certain permissions, or enable certain features, some categories may not apply.
Contact Info
- Email address (for example when you create an account, sign in, or contact support).
- Name or display name (for example the name shown to your squad on leaderboards).
Health & Fitness
No new HealthKit data types were added beyond what Apple Health exposes for daily activity. What changed is how and when we read it: when you refresh in kinetiq, the app may read current calendar week daily activity summaries from Apple Health that you have authorized, including:
- Steps
- Active calories (active energy)
- Workout minutes
We use these inputs to calculate your Motion Score and sync the resulting score (and related placement data) to our servers for squads and leaderboards.
Motion Score (high level): your Motion Score is derived from the combination of steps, active calories, and workout minutes sourced from Apple Health as described above (together with any normalization or weighting applied in the app). This is a product score for competition, not a medical assessment.
You control Apple Health access in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
Squad chat and reactions
kinetiq stores squad chat content on our servers, including chat messages you send in a squad conversation.
For message reactions (tapbacks), we store:
- The message ID the reaction applies to
- The reacting user’s user ID
- The reaction type (for example heart, thumbs up, laugh)
- A timestamp
Chat messages and reactions are visible to members of the same squad as the conversation.
Identifiers
- User ID (account identifier used to authenticate you, associate your profile with squads, and store leaderboard results).
- Device-related identifiers as processed by our service providers or advertising SDKs in accordance with their policies (for example identifiers used for fraud prevention, analytics, or ad measurement).
Push notifications
If you enable push notifications, we may store a device push token (and related technical metadata needed to deliver notifications) on our servers.
Cloud sync (Supabase)
kinetiq syncs data to Supabase (our hosted backend/database) as needed to operate the service, including (as applicable):
- Profile / display name
- Squads and memberships
- Daily score rows (including Motion Score and related fields used for leaderboards)
- Chat messages
- Chat reactions (including the fields described above)
- Push notification tokens, if notifications are enabled
Usage Data
- Product usage (for example interactions needed to operate squads, sessions, and features) and diagnostics (for example crash logs) to keep the app reliable.
- Advertising / analytics via Google AdMob: Google AdMob may collect or process usage data related to ad delivery, measurement, and (where applicable) personalization. What is collected can depend on your region, consent choices, and Google’s configuration.
Location (advertising; not GPS from kinetiq)
kinetiq does not use iOS Location Services to request continuous precise GPS location for core app features.
Google AdMob (and its partners) may use approximate location signals (for example derived from IP address or network context) to serve and measure ads. Whether this occurs can depend on your settings, region, and Google’s policies. For Google’s practices, see Google’s Privacy Policy.
We do not use kinetiq to read sensitive Health categories beyond what you explicitly allow via Apple Health permissions.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Compute and display your Motion Score and weekly results
- Read authorized Apple Health summaries on refresh and sync your Motion Score to your account
- Operate private squads and leaderboards you join
- Store, deliver, and display squad chat messages and reactions
- Send push notifications if you opt in
- Maintain account security and prevent abuse
- Improve stability and performance of the app
- Show ads and measure ad performance (via Google AdMob, subject to your consent/region settings where applicable)
- Comply with law and respond to valid legal requests
4. Visibility (leaderboards, chat, and Health data)
- Leaderboard / Motion Score data you sync may be visible to relevant squad members and leaderboard participants as needed for competition (for example display name, score, placement, and week context).
- Squad chat messages and reactions are visible to members of the same squad.
- Raw Apple Health / HealthKit records (for example raw detailed Health entries) are not shown directly to other users as HealthKit data. Other users generally see derived stats and scores (like Motion Score) and competition context needed for leaderboards—not your underlying Health database.
We design leaderboards and squad features to show competitive context, not to function as a medical record.
5. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information with service providers who help us host and operate the app (for example: cloud infrastructure). Those providers are permitted to use the information only to provide services to us.
kinetiq uses Supabase to store and process account, squad, leaderboard, chat, reaction, and related operational data as described in this policy. Supabase processes information as a service provider / data processor on our behalf, subject to our agreements and configuration.
We also use Google AdMob, which may process data as described in Google’s policies to deliver and measure advertising. AdMob may act as a separate controller or processor depending on context and region.
6. Apple Health
Health data access is managed by Apple’s Health app and your device permissions. You can change or revoke access at any time in iOS settings. If you revoke access, parts of kinetiq that depend on Health data may stop working until permission is granted again.
When you refresh, kinetiq reads current-week authorized summaries from Apple Health to update your Motion Score. Older app versions may have described scoring differently; the policy reflects the current inputs above (steps, active calories, workout minutes) without implying legacy multipliers unless separately disclosed in-app.

7. Data Retention
We retain information as long as needed to operate squads and leaderboards, maintain your account, meet legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Some data may remain in backups for a limited period.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.
9. Children’s Privacy
kinetiq is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export certain information, or to object to certain processing. You can also control Health sharing through iOS. Contact us for privacy requests related to your account.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected by the “Effective date” above.
